Little Girl’s Science Experiment

We took white carnations and put them in different colors of dye.  For one of them, we split the stem in half, and placed each half in different colors.  Here is the result!    She was very proud to show them off at the Science Fair last night.

That turned out so pretty! I should try this little experiment with my girls over the summer.

How beautiful! So how long did the stems sit in the dye?

This photo was taken about 24 hours after putting the flower in the dye. You could see the creeping of the color about three hours after. We have done it before, and the color was brighter. This time I had to pick up the flowers a day early, and set them in water overnight. I should’ve put them right in the dye while they were brand new fresh…I think we would have seen brighter color.
