I just learned that in order to photograph white on a sunny day, you meter off the sky, not off the subject. Who knew?! (I love this class!)

I’ve heard that, but if you’re photographing something white, you probably need some exposure compensation. The histogram tells the story.
I’m glad you’re enjoying your class.
Thanks Karen!
I have never used the histogram, and instead have relied on “eyeballing” the exposure…I’m getting better at doing that the more I learn, though not perfect yet! I think it could be handy at times, but I think it might just make the process all the more complicated! lol Although, I’m happy to report that I looked at the histogram of the above photo, and was so excited that it was right on!!! WhooHoo!! 🙂
I found an article on how to read the histogram that I thought was very easy to understand. (Some just confused me more!!)
