Having neglected the blog for awhile, I decided today was the day to put something, anything, up.
So I thought, how about a photo or two from this date in previous years. With St. Patrick’s Day fast approaching, and my memory of last year telling me it was quite warm, I wondered if past photos might give me the evidence of spring approaching. I went to Flickr and brought up March 10, 2010. Lo and behold, this is one of the photos from that date:
This was taken with my brand new D90 fresh out of the box after it was delivered to my doorstep. 🙂 Today is my camera’s first birthday!!
And I also remember laying on my deck while I shot this. Ergo, there was no snow on the deck. Right now, I cannot see my deck buried under the white stuff, and it will be weeks before there is any hope of laying on my deck, BUT I consider it a good sign that there was a March 10th where that was possible.
Apparently March 11th, 2009 (close as I could get) was a Macro Day. I shot this photo:
and this photo:
No evidence of spring here, but lots of talk around the internets about macro and up-close photography these days, so they are timely. (Speaking of which, I will mention Scott’s Challenge in a separate post.)
Now, back to March 10th, 2008…I remember feeling very stir crazy that year. One day, simply to escape the confines of the house, I went driving around locally and snapped photos all over the place. Apparently there was still snow, albeit the dirty and melting kind, not the fresh fluffy kind falling today.
That’s as far back as Flickr will take me, since I didn’t activate my account until November of 2007…
So let’s look at today, shall we?
And my flowering crabapple, half buried:
But, hang in there friends. It’s only a matter of time before winter gets overpowered by the inevitable and predictable coming of spring, and we’ll all be ever grateful for it when it does creep in.
