The Weekend

First, let me say a Happy Belated Memorial Day to all of you…and a very sincere thank you to all our Veterans who have, and continue to keep us free and safe.

Our weekend was delightfully busy.  Our dear friends (The Mokturtles) came for a weekend visit and we had a great time catching up on all the news.  My parents came to watch our kids, and the four adults got out for a FABULOUS dinner—the best one I’ve had in a very, very long time.  If you ever happen to go to this restaurant, be sure to order the Sliced Tenderloin Bordelaise.  It is TO DIE FOR!!

I was also introduced to loose leaf tea!  I will never buy a teabag from a grocery store again.  Mrs. Mokturtle brought me to an adorable little tea shop that happens to be local to me.  She’s been mail-ordering tea from this shop for years, and I had no idea it even existed…go figure!  I was KICK-ing myself for not bringing my camera.  It is in an old warehouse so the building is quite unique, and the tea wall with it’s hundreds of paintcans filled with tea screamed to be photographed.  No worries…I will go back, and next time I will bring my camera!  (If you are interested in a brochure, let me know and I will e-mail you the info.)

The ladies managed to sneak out to Barnes and Noble to buy $260 worth of books for Mrs. Mok to use for her work with preschoolers.  Llama Llama Mad at Mama by Anna Dewdney is a must-have!  And the guys managed to sneak out with Big Girl and Little Girl to go see Star Trek at the theatre.  They all gave it a thumbs up!

And of course, no Memorial Day weekend would be complete without attending the parade.  Here are a few photos from this year’s event.

Fabulous friends, fabulous weekend, and now a busy week ahead.  Back to business.

Dream

I had a dream last night that I went on a one week Alaskan cruise vacation with my friend, Mrs. Mokturtle.  It wasn’t until we were pulling away from port that I realized I had forgotten my camera at home.  I had a panic attack and saw black.  I assume I passed out, and that’s when I woke up.  Man, I’ve got issues!  LOL

I Didn’t Know…

How much I wanted Adam to win until he lost.  😦

I really liked Kris, loved many of his performances, had a heart full of excitement for him.  He’s a true artist and a darling to boot.  Heck, I even did a post about him awhile back.  Remember?  But somehow, it just felt wrong to have Adam step off the stage for Kris to sing the coronation song.

Sorry MM.  That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.  😉

To Tweet or Not to Tweet, That is the Question

Okay, so I’ve had my Twitter account active for nearly two weeks now.  I’ve been withholding judgement until I had put in a little time with it.  Although I had signed up a long time ago, I really didn’t see the point, so I didn’t use it.  However, Shrew and Music Maven encouraged me to give it a try.  I still didn’t see the point.  I thought I might be able to use it to let off steam, thus naming it My Evil Twit.  But then I found the more I “tweeted” the annoying things, the more I noticed them, and the more I was searching for interestingly annoying things to “tweet” about.  Not a healthy view of everyday life.  But I stuck with it, and am beginning to see the limited value of the thing as an entertainment and communication venue.

I  like the fact that I can throw things on Twitter that  I would tell an office mate if I still had one.  I miss miss MISS my office mate/fellow teacher more than I can put into words, because we could share everything, (including Homer-esque discussions) and laugh at ourselves.  Twitter fills that hole a bit.  It is also a bit of an extension of our mutual blog communities so the discussions (quips) are shared with people we are familiar with already.  Kinda fun—like chat on the go.  And I’ve made contact with a few people that I hadn’t spoken to in awhile.  It makes it very easy to keep in touch.

There are pitfalls however.  It is a distraction of mass proportion.  I am constantly drawn by my phone *beep*beep*beeping* at me.  I didn’t make the mistake of sending everyone’s updates to my phone, but the few I do have sent simply can’t be ignored.  I mean, Heaven forbid I miss something, being the Nosey Rosey that I am.  😉

So, all in all, I guess I’ll keep on Tweeting.  And now that I know the lay of the land, I’m going to start exploring the vast world of celebrity Tweeters.  Now *this* could be fun.

So, if you’re on and I don’t already follow you, let me know so I can add you to my huge “follow” list of 11 people.  And may the Twit be with you.  😉

A Visit

Went to visit my cousin and her family for dinner last night and got to drive up the road to the boarder’s to meet her new horse.  She has wanted a horse since we were teeny and every girl wanted one…but she has finally realized her dream!  (She will be very upset that I can’t remember either the type of horse or the poor horse’s name…I will get back to you on that!  I DO remember that it is a boy though, and he is GORGEOUS!   😉  )

***Addendum***

He is a Norwegian Fjord and his name is Crispin.  Thanks for reminding me to add it here Renae!  lol

Here are some photos from the evening.

Big Girl—My Horse Whisperer

Mister was more interested in the horse plops than the horses.  What a boy!
