It Doesn’t Get Better Than This….

So, last Saturday we were invited to spend the day at a lovely camp on Lake George.  We have known this family for a number of years, he being our dentist, and she being a fellow homeroom helper.  Their oldest child and my Little Girl were in Kindergarten together…Dentist’s sister is my Mom and Dad’s neighbor…the connections go on and on.  But we have never gotten together as two families…we are so glad we did!  We all clicked immediately, and I think I may have found a long lost sister in C.!  Big Girl said, “You and her are so alike it’s spooky Mom!”  The kids enjoyed swimming, and tubing,  the adults enjoyed relaxing and eating (of course), and we ended the day with an after-dinner boat ride as the sun was setting over the hills.  An excellent day!

Here are a few photos…Zan took most of them, so I can’t take all the credit!

Sunset on the Lake…didn’t have my filters.  Curses!

The view from our host’s dock…

And I want to own this camp someday…it was my favorite of the many beautiful spots we saw on our ride.

A Day at the Zoo

So, we went to the Bronx Zoo over the weekend with my parents and my sister’s family.  I was impressed with the size of the place!  I was there when I was a young girl, and all I remember from that trip was the monkey house.  I will remember the SMELL of the monkey house from this trip!  *gag*

Anyway, the kids were great, including the two two-year olds, and the favorites of the day must’ve been the little alligators, the prairie dogs, the seals, and the gorillas (very cool!)  My personal favorites were the peacocks.

And if you’re ever in the area, I HIGHLY recommend this Marriott hotel.  My Dad is a “frequent stayer” and we were treated like royalty.  Very comfortable, very clean, and the most friendly people outside of Disney I have ever come across.  And dinner at this restaurant (attached to the hotel) was unbelievable!  I will dream of that filet I had for months.

The only negative of the whole trip (besides Mister not sleeping well which was totally expected) was Little Girl waking up hallucinating with a 104 degree fever at midnight.  She didn’t know where she was or who we were, and we could’ve cooked an egg on her skin.  Luckily, I am one of those “pack everything just in case” Mommies, so I had Motrin AND Tylenol with me…it took both to bring the fever down to a manageable level.  She is headed to the Dr. this morning, so we’ll see what’s up.  This is the second time this month she has had these symptoms, missed a whole week of school, and has already been through one antibiotic.  So wish us luck.

And here are a couple of favorites from the trip…
