Frozen Morning…
Yesterday we woke up to negative 13 degrees and icy windows…but I spotted the sun coming up and thought I’d play with my Raynox.

And then I had a very special delivery later that frozen day.

Zan accuses me of loving my camera more than I love him….that’s not really true, but I must admit that I have fallen in love with it all over again…or maybe I’m just in love with that little “M” on the dial…*sigh*
Elements Put to Work
So, I took this photo the other day….and I hated it.

It was just so blahhhh.
But I really wanted to like it, so I played.
Sprayed:

Red:

Black and White background:

High pass (whatever that means!):

And, Old Paper:

I *think* I like the sprayed and old paper best….any thoughts? Was it even worth saving do you think?
Lesson #1
I have learned:
* what a correct exposure is
* what aperture is, where to find it, what it does, and how to change it
* what shutter speed is, how it is related to aperture and ISO (oh, yeah, I learned what the heck that is too!) , where to find it, and how to change it
* how to do that “isolated subject” thing
* how to use my Manual Setting!! Yay!
Here’s a practice photo with an aperture f/5.6 and shutter speed of 1/25th second

And the same shot, with an aperture of f/22 and a shutter speed of 1.6 sec.

And who knew that the smaller the f/ number, the bigger the opening? And that changing one thing necessitates changing another??? Crazy I tell ya! No wonder I’ve been clueless for so long!
So cool!
Flickr Highlight
Please go check out pamcrowley77’s Flickr photostream!!! Pam found me a couple of days ago, and as always, I was excited to venture over to a new photostream. What a treat!! I found myself drifting from page to page, fascinated with the variety of subjects, angles, colors, and treatments she uses. Her stream drew me in, and when I hit the end, I went right back to the beginning and started all over again, taking the time to really “see” the wealth of art she has uploaded into her corner of the Flickr universe.
Here’s one of my favorites…

Talk about storytelling! Now I want to jump in my car and drive some back roads! If only those backroads weren’t covered in ice and snow… *sigh*
Happy “Peaceful” Sunday everyone! It’s another fabulous snowy day here in the Northeast…a good day to get lost in Flickr. 🙂
