White Christmas
We fared much better than thousands. For us, the storm dumped more snow than sleet or ice, and we kept our power. I’m very thankful. School was cancelled, so I have my sweeties home with me today. And I could tell you the hilarious story of how I went outside to clear the driveway this morning since Zan is not available to be my Hero, but I will spare you the details. I will just say that hauling a stalled snowblower back up the icy driveway, while waiting for the roof ice to dump off my slate roof and kill me, is an experience I could have lived without! Luckily my Dear Neighbor was outside to cheer me on and laugh at me the entire time! *tee*hee* I managed to shovel and blow a narrow path just wide enough to back my car through. The rest will wait for Dear Neighbor’s husband, who is my Backup Hero, to come and finish the job. I’ll have to get busy so I have his favorite brownies waiting for him when he pulls in. I’m not above bribery. 🙂
It really is quite beautiful outside this morning. Take a peek.

And look how pretty this tree is this morning. Remember those berries that were in my masthead awhile back?

And our plowdrivers have been very busy. (Thank you!)

Donation Season
So, one of our local schools collects change from the students for three weeks each year to donate to our local Soup Kitchen. Each year, the school raises more and more as the event becomes bigger and bigger. Last year they donated $2300.
This year I have spent four of the donation days counting and rolling coins. Today was the biggest yet…it was a PTA Matching Funds Day, so we expected the take to be large…we didn’t expect it to be huge! We collected over $800, over $700 of it in change!!! (All this from a school with a population of about 360 students.) That translates into a $1600 donation just for today! Three of us spent the entire day counting and rolling, but I couldn’t resist stopping for a minute to take some photos. 🙂

Who Needs Toys When You’ve Got Post-it Notes and a Teacher Pen?

More Fun with Straws
And in case you were wondering, no I didn’t get any housework done today…or projects for that matter. I did squeeze in errands and two loads of laundry between photo taking and blogging however. The day isn’t a total loss!
I dedicate these photos to Mr. STPhoto…who will be personally hugging Mickey on my behalf in a matter of days. 😉
