The Falls

I live in a run-down factory town which was built on the shores of a major river.  (By the way, anyone else hearing what I’m hearing in my head?  “I was boooorn by the river…”

But I digress….anyway, the river falls were running violently when we left for Disney.  I scolded Zan for not telling me (he drives by there on the way to work everyday.)  “Don’t you know what a valuable photographic opportunity I might have missed!”  He rolled his eyes at me and told me to get the photo when we got back.  Well, did I remember?  No.

I finally thought of it yesterday before running out for errands, and brought along my trusty Nikon, crossing my fingers that they were still crashing.  No such luck.  😦  The falls were still running…but merely a trickle compared with the violent overflow from a few weeks ago.  However, I took some photos anyway, and I share them with you today.

This afternoon I will be off to visit a friend in a beloved nearby town…(in fact, Zan and I lived there for the first five and a half years of our marriage.)  Hopefully I’ll have some photos of our mini escape to share with you tomorrow.

I don’t think you captured the falls at thier best… If you park in the parking area and walk 100 yards to the right you can get the falls and the bridges in the shot.. I know you cant do it with the baby trying to throw himself into the brink but maybe we can all go for a walk and you can show off those shots. BTW Glad you FINALLY went there with your camera. Sure took you long enough 😉

OOOOH KD…Northern NY Falls! My best bud from college lived in Little Falls which had a big canal days celebration.

KD…why not try to make a comment on the falls…why they are there, what they represent for the community, the usefulness of them now. Might help even when having tot in tow to give you a perspective.

Zan, I definitely didn’t catch them at their best, or their best view…you are correct about Baby Boy…I took this from the car window…the car window that rolls down at the moment! Definitely worth a family excursion I’d say.
Shrew, excellent idea! There is so much history here…lots I could share. I honestly had a kajillion ideas as I drove through this town, and the one where we used to live…I saw every building I’ve resided in today, except for the ones at college…thought it might be fun to do a photo essay on “Wherever I’ve laid my head…” (I don’t wear hats!) 😉
LOVE the idea of some river history told in photos!
Okay, I need a nanny so I can just spend my day taking pictures and blogging. 😉
