I had birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. 😉

My first attempt…I don’t like the lighting, but I was able to get a bit closer than I can with my 10x filter.

And a cropped one.

Wow!! The sharpness is amazing!!
Yowza…I want one
Wow! You did that on your first try! Congrats. Took much tutoring from Ivoryhut for me to even get one nice clear shot.
OOOOOOhh PURTY….
karma, I took about 20 shots and those were the sharpest ones. I had plenty of duds. I had to use my mini tripod, and even then, just pushing the button made enough shake to blur some of the images. Still, I was happy to get a couple of decent shots on my first time out with the lens. 🙂
I actually made that flash-diffuser Ivoryhut told us about a while ago and it really helped. The diffuser is about the focal length of that lens (117 mm) so putting your subject right at the end of the diffuser helps zero in on your subject and the flash helps compensate for some of the movement, although not all. I can’t hand-hold anything with that lens – I rest it on a table or use the tripod, and I use the 2 second timer to avoid the shake of pushing the shutter. I’m hoping when the nice weather returns and I’m out in bright sunshine using the lens I might be able to hand-hold a few shots.
Sweet! Looks like you will have oodles to share with us between new toys and classes!
