The second image is amazing – not only because lalacs are so nice (I have several different kinds if them in my garden!) – but the bokeh in your picture is very special and fine!
What’s wrong with your lilac photo? Nice color and texture. Only suggestion would be to try a smaller aperture like f/11 or f/16 to increase depth of field on the flower. Being so close or using a telephoto would still smooth out the background.
Thanks Scott…tis was the only one of several worth saving. I can never seem to get a great angle…I’ll try your suggestions next time. I have another bush, a different purple, that I’d like to capture. Maybe evening light would work well?
You did find pretty! My lilacs have passed by – I miss them terribly. Nothing beats their scent in the spring time.

Golden hour always works well. If not wet, spray them with some water, too. Nobody would question it this year. π
In your pictures i see the happiness that is in your soul. Take more pictures and post all of them. Buck up little camper.
